Ravon Smith, President 

 Ravon Smith, CRDH, AS

 

Ravon Smith, CRDH, AS is well known for her vivacious smile.

She has been working as a clinical hygienist for over 6 years. Her continuous passion and enthusiasm to motivate patients is seen through individualized patient care. She is a highly regarded and trusted due to her patient education, time spent and thorough but gentle touch.  Before dentistry, she was employed in the Management and Quality Assurance fields for many years. She previously studied Social Work serving as Vice President of the Bluffton College Social Work Club. Ravon is the Founder of His Love 29:11 Ministries which targets the homeless community of Jacksonville Florida. She is also the proud owner of So Smitten Catering. Ravon is excited to be involved with the association and ready to see the bright changes and future coming to the dental hygiene field. This year’s theme is “Let’s face this together.” Together we stand to bring more awareness and change needed for our scope of practice!

Marie Smith, President-Elect

Marie Smith, RDH, AS

 

Marie Smith CRDH, AS, graduated from Sanford Brown College, and is an active member of the ADHA. She achieved her Associate in Science Degree for Dental Hygiene in 2016 and states it was the best career choice she ever made.  Marie has made it her personal mission to make sure each of her patients have a pleasant dental experience.  Marie finds joy interacting with her patients and making a difference in their lives. She also prides herself in ethics and doing what's right.  Aside from her career Marie enjoys volunteering,  traveling, time outdoors soaking up the sun and spending time doting on her nephews.

Shannon Frey, Treasurer

 Shannon Frey, CRDH, AS

 

Shannon Frey CRDH, AS, graduated in 2016 from Sanford Brown College and is an active member of the ADHA. She received her Dental Assisting Expanded Functions Certificate in 2005 and knew dentistry would always be her career path. She plans on continuing with her education and intends on obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene. She is currently a clinician and has worked in private and corporate practices, as well as for a periodontal specialist. On her downtime, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family and dogs, kickboxing, and music festivals.

Karah Mosteller, Vice President

Karah Mosteller, CRDH, AS

Karah Mosteller, CRDH, AS, has been a dental hygienist for 2 years. She graduated in 2019 from Florida State College at Jacksonville and is currently finishing up her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from St. Petersburg College. She is also pursuing a career as a dentist and was just recently married on May 29th 2021. It is Karah’s passion to change her patients fear of the dentist into a love for it. She believes you can do this by a compassionate approach and thorough patient education. Loving her patients well and giving them quality, ethical care is what’s most important to her. Karah is an active member at her church,

Paramount Church, and serves as the scheduling coordinator and in childcare. She currently lives in Nocatee and enjoys kayaking, fishing, playing the drums, oil painting, cooking, and anything outdoors (especially on the water)!

Hazel Kerr, E- Communications

Hazel Kerr, RDH MS

Hazel Kerr, RDH, MS, has had a dental hygiene career for over 50 years, first as a clinical practitioner and then a dental hygiene educator.  She worked in North Carolina, Mississippi, and Florida in private practice, and later as a college professor and program manager for 21 years at Florida State College in Jacksonville.  Some of you may know her as one of the online professors in the BAS Dental Hygiene Program at St. Petersburg College for the past 14 years.  She is now retired and devotes her energy and specialty to serving as the E-Communications Manager for the association.  Hazel said she loves online technology and learns something new each day in the cyber world!  She lives in Kingsland, GA, just a few miles over the Florida border, with her husband who is a retired industrial engineer from Kingsbay Navy Base.  Together they have four grown daughters and enjoy spending time with family.  They gave up motorcycle riding a couple of years ago (too hard on the spine) and now love weekend travels in the comfort of their car!!

Darla Keeney, Immediate Past President

  Darla  Keeney, CRDH, BS

Darla graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, Dental Hygiene Program in Southern California in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. After graduating, Darla worked in clinical dental hygiene for three years in Oklahoma and was located in remote farm communities.  Darla was the first dental hygienist in those offices. In 1987, she moved to Florida and worked in private practice for several years. The opportunity arose for her to enter the field of Education in which she worked 3 years teaching both in the classroom and in clinic. Currently she is working at a private practice in Neptune Beach.  Darla’s favorite pastimes are spending time with family, particularly her 3 grandkids, “beaching it” and staying young, active and healthy by working out on a regular basis.  Darla has enjoyed getting involved in NEFDHA and has served as Recording Secretary, Vice President and President Elect the past few years.
