Sol Brotman is a private practice general dentist in the San Marco area of Jacksonville.  Sol is a 1980 graduate of the University of Maryland Dental School and the Comprehensive Dentistry Program of the University of Florida.  Sol has been a clinical investigator in many research trials and has been authored articles on restorative and facial pain diagnosis and management.  He served on the faculties of the University of Florida, where he taught general dentistry and Dental Management of Medically Compromised Patients to residents and fourth year dental students, the Mahan Facial Pain Center to dentists, dental students and residents, as well as at the Brotman Orofacial Pain Center at the University of Maryland.  He currently is a lecturer at the LSU Facial Pain Center.  Sol is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Academy of Dentistry International and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

 

Currently Dental Director of Florida Combined Life, a subsidiary of Florida Blue, Sol has been a consultant to more than 20 medical insurance companies.  A former Chairman of the Florida Board of Dentistry, Sol serves as a consultant on budgetary and standard of care issues to the Florida Department of Health.

 

Sol is the only dentist graduate of Leadership Jacksonville where he served for five years as Chair of the Health Program teaching community leaders about problems and solutions in health care.  He has been Chairman of three United Way agencies and is a Trustee of the Community Foundation of Northeast Florida.  Sol is currently a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Cancer Research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
